This grant scheme has been created to support the release of the 'Binfrastructure - The right bin in the right place' guidance released by WRAP on behalf of Defra in October.
Please note that local authorities need to have a Litter Strategy in place in order to be eligible for the grant.
The scheme is open to local authorities based in England and shall award capital grants of between £10,000 and £25,000 to successful applicants for the purchase and installation of new bins, with the aim of providing infrastructure in identified litter-prone 'hotspot' locations.
Applicants are required to already have a Litter or Binfrastructure Strategy in place at their local authority. If your local authority has a Litter Strategy in place and would like funding to support it, please download an application pack.
Please note: Applications for this grant will follow a single-stage assessment process. There is a finite budget of £2million set for this scheme. Grants shall be awarded on a 'first come first served' basis, until the total funds have been fully allocated within a set timeframe. The scheme is open to Litter Authorities (not including parish and town councils) based in England.
Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis. We aim to share outcomes of assessments 3 weeks after submission. Applications are open for registration from Thursday 17 December until Friday 19 February 2021 at 13.00. Please email your application to litterbins@wrap.org.uk.
If you meet the eligibility criteria detailed in the guidance, we welcome an application from you.
