“Within one week of starting to raise awareness of our water use a leak was found and further monitoring has meant we have reduced our water usage by 85m3 per year, saving us up to £200 a year thanks to the Rippleffect!

Peter Hibbett, Quality and Environment Officer at Saint-Gobain Ecophon, part of the Saint-Gobain Group.

Ecophon is part of the Saint-Gobain Group, a world leader in the habitat and construction markets and designs, manufactures and distributes building materials. Ecophon is a global supplier of sound absorbing ceilings and wall absorbers systems. Ecophon and Saint-Gobain Group both have sustainable business development plans to work towards a better environment, financial stability, health and safety, ethics and social responsibility.

Ecophon joined the Rippleffect to identify opportunities to reduce its water consumption for its site of 24 staff with an annual water use of approximately 500m3 per year. Ecophon developed a staff awareness campaign that aimed to get all members of staff involved and thinking about water use. A member of staff was appointed a champion to raise awareness of the campaign within the company and take regular water meter readings. The meter readings allowed water usage to be monitored weekly and identify changes in water use.

As a result of Ecophon joining the Rippleffect, staff engagement increased and by monitoring water usage a leak was identified within the first week of starting the campaign. Overall 85m3 per year of water is being saved by Ecophon staff, which is an annual saving of up to £200.
