WRAP's Commitment to Net Zero

Reducing environmental impact is core to WRAP’s business. We work with governments, businesses, and citizens to improve our use of resources and deliver environmental benefits, including reduced emissions of greenhouses gases.

The 2023 GHG update report we present here summarises the progress made towards the Courtauld 2030 GHG emissions target and the action WRAP is taking on the key issue of company level scope 3 GHG measurement and reporting to embed a target, measure act approach in the sector.

The report also gives an update on WRAPs role in increasing level of co-ordinated action by the food sector on this vital issue.

To help reduce carbon emissions and avoid carbon leakage, greater understanding of UK product and company-level emissions is crucial. We identified a knowledge gap in how company and product reporting standards relate to each other.

Following the launch of WRAP’s Scope 3 GHG Measurement and Reporting Protocols for Food and Drink in May 2022, which provides businesses with a consistent methodology to measure and track progress in reducing supply chain greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, 17 Courtauld Signatories from across the sector agreed to test the new materials in their business environment as part of a WRAP-led pilot programme.
