The project demonstrated the potential to revolutionise waste recycling in a range of countries taking AI technology used in Europe,  and using it in the developing world.

Indian company Dalmia, working in partnership with Interface, aimed to demonstrate that through mechanical recycling, single-use plastic waste, destined for landfill or incineration, could be turned in to high value applications such as injection moulded car components and packaging. 

New legislation in Chile to ban single use plastics has led to the food service industry seeking alternatives.  

This project trialled and tested consumer attitudes and market appetite for a compostable sachet and pipet.

It is an annual survey of UK citizens that gathers evidence on recycling attitudes, knowledge, and behaviour. It is the largest and longest running of its kind, having been undertaken by WRAP since 2004.

The Hospitality Sector Council is made up of experts who represent a cross-section of the sector, to support the delivery of the government’s Hospitality Strategy. The Council will identify and oversee actions related to the 22 commitments in the strategy and co-create sensible solutions using their expert knowledge and assess the strength of the sector.

Around 320,000 tonnes of edible fresh fruit and 1.3 million tonnes of edible fresh vegetables and salad are wasted in UK homes each year, worth an estimated £3.8 billion. Approximately £2.2 billion of this is wasted because it is not eaten in time.

In September 2022, WRAP commissioned online consumer research into the current attitudes and behaviours of UK citizens in relation to home textiles, including what’s influencing consumers to make a home textiles purchase, through what routes are they buying and disposing of home textile items and what are their in-use habits in relation to those items. 

Globally, food waste on farms is estimated to be around 1.2 billion tonnes, resulting in greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 2.2 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide (WWF, 2021). Tackling the issue of food surplus and waste on farms can bring significant business benefits. Research suggests that reducing food surplus and waste to the minimum reported rates can increase profits by up to 20% for farm enterprises (WRAP, 2021).
