The Courtauld Commitment Water Ambition progress report sets out:

  • The physical, commercial and reputational risks facing UK food and drink businesses linked to water needs in their supply chains.
  • Steps businesses can take to reduce their exposure to water risks.
  • A ready-made framework of collective action projects in key sourcing locations which supply more than 2/3 of the UK’s vegetables (excluding potatoes) and 1/3 of the UK’s fruit.

This guidance is a significant move in the fight against food waste. It will help ensure shoppers are given consistent, clear advice around how to manage and store food at home.

This document provides guidance on how to apply and use food date labels1 and how UK law applies throughout the ‘life cycle’ of a food product (that is from initial product design and development right through to sale or redistribution).

UPDATE FEBRUARY 2022: WRAP has published ground-breaking new research into uncut fresh fruit and vegetables and the opportunities to reduce household food waste. Please note that the findings of the new research and the recommended actions differ from those contained in our current labelling guidance. Pending discussions with relevant partner organisations WRAP will be revising this guidance in line with the new recommendations. Please contact WRAP if you would like further information.
