The nation’s annual celebration of recycling

Recycle Week is Recycle Now’s flagship annual event which is a celebration of recycling across the nation. It’s the one week of the year where retailers, brands, waste management companies, trade associations, governments and the media come together to achieve one goal: to galvanise the public into recycling more of the right things, more often.

2021 theme: 'Step It Up' this Recycle Week

This year Recycle Week focused on climate change and how by doing the simple act of recycling we can all help make a huge difference to our planet. Recycle Now asked the nation to ‘Step It Up’ and be more effective recyclers by checking items a little closer.

The brand’s latest Recycling Tracker Survey showed that while we are now very much a nation of recyclers with 9 out of 10 people recycling, still, some 55% of households put items in the general rubbish that could be recycled.

This year Recycle Now welcomed celebrity ambassador JJ Chalmers; Invictus Games athlete, TV presenter and Strictly Come Dancing Star to front Recycle Week.

The Week saw a myriad of campaign activities happen across the nation including three striking murals on prominent buildings in London, Newcastle and Belfast. Each was created by local artists who interpreted the ‘Step It Up’ theme. The artworks were created using Ambient Pro paint, which absorbs CO2 and cleans the air of other toxins.

We would like to thanks all donors for their support this year.

Look out for Recycle Week 2022 next September!

We'd love to talk to organisations about the opportunities to get involved with next year's Recycle Week

Our evidence shows that Recycle Week is changing people’s behaviour, of the people who saw Recycle Week in 2020 a whopping 92% found it motivating and 89% of those people changed their recycling behaviours; this shows the power of Recycle Week.
