Increasing business waste recycling
- This grant supported projects implementing capital infrastructure to increase non-household municipal (NHM) business waste recycling.
- Grants were awarded through the Resource Action Fund to commercial and not-for-profit organisations that either collected or facilitated the collection of this waste, to provide new or improved recycling services and operations.
- Grants through the Resource Action Fund provided capital infrastructure to support an increase of NHM waste recycling in England.
- Projects had to demonstrate new processes or improved operational efficiencies that went beyond the industry norm, as well as developing effective communication approaches that guide and support small to medium enterprises signing up to the service, in order to facilitate efficient recycling.
Overall, the initiatives funded through the Resource Action Fund are expected to divert over 23,066 tonnes of NHM waste from landfill.
This is estimated to avoid over 46,169 tonnes of CO2e emissions.
It is also anticipated that grant projects will result in 12 new full-time equivalent jobs.
