Enabling more plastic packaging to be recycled
Through the Resource Action Fund, this grant supported capital infrastructure projects enabling more plastic packaging to be recycled, diverting this waste from landfill or incineration so that it remains a valuable resource. Focus was on projects providing new infrastructure and technologies to help significantly increase recycling capacity and capability for currently difficult to recycle plastic packaging, such as:
- Plastic trays, pots, and tubs, in particular those made from PET;
- Plastic films and pouches; and
- Recycling of plastic packaging into food grade and pharmaceutical packaging applications.
Project activity had to go beyond the current industry norm or provide new approaches not currently tried and tested in the UK.
This video showcase the great work undertaken by Impact Recycling who received a grant under the Fund.
Four organisations across England received funding for projects aiming to divert a total of 113,369 of plastic from going to waste.
