Success in ending packaging growth in the UK

Retailers and brands have hit their target to end packaging growth in the UK and are now on track to cut food and packaging waste.

61% of people in England now describe themselves as committed recyclers, compared to less than half in 2004. 5.8m tonnes extra annual recycling capacity. £182m investment in the recycling sector from commercial sources. £1.3bn annual turnover for the recycling sector - nearly double it's value when WRAP was founded. Over one third of English and Scottish households are now composting at home. 24 major retailers and brands are now working with WRAP to reduce waste by 160,000 tonnes by 2008.
