Launched in 2012, the Sustainable Clothing Action Plan 2020 Commitment (SCAP) set out to radically reduce the carbon, water and waste impact of the UK clothing and textiles industry. At the time, the industry was crying out for a force which would unite brands and retail signatories with the charity sector and recyclers to tackle the environmental costs of clothing.

Co-hosted by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World Resources Institute (WRI) and WRAP this online event explored and debated what needs to be done and how, following the United Nations Food Systems Summit (Sept 2021) and ahead of COP26 in Glasgow. A new report on how to deliver a Net Zero food system for one large economy - the UK, was published on the day of conference: UK Food System GHG Emissions.

Oldham Council experienced high levels of contamination in its household organic waste collection service. On review the contamination was due to plastic bags being used by households to contain food waste for recycling instead of compostable liners. The trial reduced incorrect bag use, benefitted households, retailers and the IVC operator, and saved the council money.

To complement the in-depth Love Food Hate Waste cascade sessions provided by WRAP staff, a suite of activities has been developed and evaluated to help more people ‘Save More’ money by wasting less food. The activities have been designed to be fun and informative whilst being really easy to take part in and deliver.
