The circular economy as a route to opportunity

In ‘Smart Growth: the economic case for the circular economy’ produced in WRAP’s capacity as a member of the Business in the Community (BITC)’s Circular Economy Taskforce, we research and summarise the economic case for moving towards a circular economy in the UK.

This report presents the results of the 2015 Food and Drink Federation (FDF) members’ survey of food and packaging waste arisings. The main objective of the survey was to determine whether the FDF membership had achieved its Five-Fold Environmental Ambition target of sending zero  food and packaging waste to landfill by (or before) the end of 2015.

This research and development project has identified a number of solutions that would reduce contamination in the recycling process and enable the production of milk bottles that are visually acceptable with at least 30% rHDPE content.

The aim of the Materials Pricing Report is to give participants in the market such as local authorities, waste management companies, recyclers, reprocessors and social economy businesses more information about pricing trends and current conditions in the markets for recovered materials.

The Recycle Now programme commissioned research to explore people’s barriers to recycling at home. This report forms part of our guidance to Local Authorities on how to create more informative, pursuasive and engaging communications campaigns. 

This report looks at ways of making food waste collection services more efficient and more affordable to businesses, with the aim of increasing take up and diverting more food waste from landfill.

This report highlights the need for action on food waste and provides concrete examples of how this can be achieved.
