This report provides bulk density data for commonly collected material streams, taking into account container types and how the materials are collected (vehicle types). It provides data that will be useful in planning and managing collection and handling systems for recyclable materials.

Between 2007 and 2009 WRAP provided funding and technical support to 21 local authorities to carry out trials of separate food waste collections. This report evaluates the performance of the trials and draws out key practical lessons for local authorities for the collection of food waste from householders.

This guide is intended to help authorities decide whether alternate weekly collection (AWC) is right for them and to draw together, from the experience of other authorities, advice on how to design and implement a scheme which is effective, and which gains and retains the support of local people.
