Carolina Fernández

"Nature, especially the ocean, gives me peace and I knew when I went to university that I wanted to do something working with the environment and doing my part to save the planet."

Carolina started her working life in the private sector, helping companies become more committed to sustainability, but was disheartened by the slow pace of change and so many organisations not taking the issues seriously enough.

"It was frustrating for me, and I knew then that I wanted to work for an NGO to help influence organisations globally – especially to support developing countries – to create real and lasting change."

Carolina is a true global ambassador having lived and worked in different parts of the world, including countries across Europe, Africa, and Central America. Her multi-cultural experiences really contribute to her current role as International Partnerships Manager at WRAP, working across food, water, plastics, and textiles.

"My role is basically trying to identify and establish areas of opportunity across the world, creating local partnerships in these countries, maintaining relationships, and supporting our partners."

Carolina has been at the forefront of the work WRAP does to accelerate the circular economy, engaging with governments and civil servants across many different countries including Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, and Denmark as well as CEOs and other heads of industry.

Fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, Carolina has experience speaking at large global events and has been interviewed by the media in several countries, including on national television in St Lucia.

"I'm passionate about what I do. We are making a difference and it's very rewarding to be part of it."
