WRAP at COP28

30 November 2023

With 45% of global emissions linked to consumption, just concentrating on renewable energy will not halt climate change. We must change the way we make, use and throw away everyday things like food, clothes, household products and appliances. Addressing consumption-based emissions means making more ambitious commitments towards a circular economy and transforming our global food system. We must all adopt circular living.

WRAP has a delegation in the United Arab Emirates (2nd to 11th December) to call on governments, policymakers, and businesses to do more about consumption-based emissions. Our delegates are available for interviews and commentary during COP28, whether in person or remote, on emerging announcements and key topics linked to consumption-based emissions – please contact the PR and Media team at WRAP:

At COP28 WRAP is calling on:

  • All countries to measure and act on emissions from imported goods generated along their global supply chains (consumption-based emissions).
  • All countries to include actions in their Nationally Determined Contributions to reduce food waste and support businesses and individuals to change the way they produce and consume goods and services.
  • All businesses to work with suppliers and partners – via voluntary agreements – to set and commit to delivering greenhouse gas targets in line with 1.5OC, including Scope 3 emissions.
