The Resource Action Fund (RAF) was an £18 million fund, provided by Defra to support resource efficiency projects, with the goal of diverting, reducing, and better managing waste. The Resource Action Fund The funding supported organisations in England which aimed to reduce waste and make better use of materials.

  • Funded by Defra, RAF supported key policy outcomes in the areas of food, plastics, textiles, recycling infrastructure and litter. RAF delivered both expert support in the areas of food and non-household municipal recycling and grant funding.
  • This brochure highlights the RAF grant scheme within the textiles policy area. Investments made by Defra through the Resource Action Fund (RAF) have helped towards the transformation of the fashion and textiles industry and a move towards a circular textiles economy.
Over their lifetime, the initiatives funded through RAF are expected to divert over 13,970 tonnes of textile waste from landfill. This is estimated to avoid over 20,068 tonnes of CO2e emissions.
