Presenting our 2019-20 annual report. A year on from our inaugural annual report where we published our 2018 baseline data we can now present our 2019 data highlights and member actions. 

Prepared by the World Bank and WRAP on behalf of the government of Mexico, the Conceptual Framework brings together the data on food loss and waste in Mexico for the first time, painting a compelling picture of the current situation an creating a framework for action.

Unsustainable production and consumption of food constitutes one of the biggest environmental threats to our planet. Eliminating food loss and waste to the largest extent possible – at all stages from producer to consumer – stands out as an urgent and indispensable step towards more sustainable food systems.

This report outlines the main activities and achievements to deliver the Safety, Health and Environment objectives for WRAP. It covers the period April 2018 to March 2019.

The UK Plastics Pact is leading a global wave of change in the way we make, use, reuse and dispose of plastic. The UK's model is being replicated in other countries to form a powerful global movement as part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's New Plastics Economy initiative. Since April 2018 the Pact has made meaningful progress working towards the four ambitious targets.

The Courtauld Commitment Water Ambition progress report sets out:

• The physical, commercial and reputational risks facing UK food and drink businesses linked to water needs in their supply chains.
• Steps businesses can take to reduce their exposure to water risks.
• A ready-made framework of collective action projects in key sourcing locations which supply more than 2/3 of the UK’s vegetables (excluding potatoes) and 1/3 of the UK’s fruit.

Updated figures for surplus food redistribution via charities and commercial outlets from retail, manufacturing and the hospitality & food service sector for the three year period 2015-2018.

Prepared on behalf of Champions 12.3, a new report finds a compelling business case for action on food waste prevention in the catering industry.

Momentum growing, but more still needed

Prepared on behalf of Champions 12.3, The Business Case for Reducing Food Loss and Waste analyses the financial impacts of historical food loss and waste reduction efforts.

The report, which has been developed with leading figures in the food supply chain, includes:

• The risks to the UK food system over the next 10 years if we don't embrace a business unusual approach to the way we manufacture, sell and consume food;
• The huge wealth of opportunities that developing a Flexible, Intelligent and Transparent (FIT) supply chain will open to the sector; and
• How a "business unusual" approach will enable the sector to respond flexibly to changes in demand and weather patterns, with a transparent supply chain that will limit food scares and scandals.
