  • This grant was designed to help avoid surplus food produced by food businesses from becoming waste, by enabling organisations across England to redistribute more of this food to people who have a need.
  • The fund was open to small and medium enterprises and not-for-profit organisations that supply surplus food directly to individuals or to other organisations doing the same.
  • Funding was awarded through the Resource Action Fund for the necessary equipment and infrastructure such as storage, vehicles, and equipment, and revenue costs such as training and new roles required for the delivery of these projects.

Grants awarded 

13 organisations across England were awarded funding for projects aiming to redistribute a total of 9,579 tonnes of surplus food to avoid this becoming waste.
